Overview
For a refreshing take on any Monopoly game, meet the iconic theme, locations and characters of Marvel’s Black Panther. You can choose out of an iconic mask, helmet, blade, gauntlet, or spear as your player tokens. Additionally, one extra gameplay mechanic is to form as many Alliances as you can, all while collecting properties and earning money.
Replacing the traditional Chance and Community Chest cards are Kimoyo Beads cards and Heart-shaped Herb cards, which add an element of surprise to the game by directing players to perform tasks such as handing over money or going to jail.

Pros
It is a given that anyone who loves the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Black Panther will enjoy this game immensely. Before, we could only dream of exploring Wakanda – but now, it is reality. Meet all your favorite characters and places in this exciting edition of Monopoly. You don’t just travel to each location but also purchase them and start building settlements!
One thing we noticed about Monopoly Black Panther is its accepting age ranges, allowing anyone from 8+ to play. It also accommodates a maximum of 6 players, which is more than some other Monopoly games catered to the same age group. Whether you are thinking of buying this for a family, a group of friends or an interest club, it is almost guaranteed that everyone will be able to play and enjoy it. This can also be a great way to introduce young children to the concept of money making and venture capitalism. After all, it is easier to interest the little ones in a lesson if it has to do with their favorite comic characters!
Additionally, Monopoly Black Panther seems to be worth every cent it costs, which is not much at all. At a price tag of $19.99 on Hasbro’s website, this is definitely one of the most affordable spin-offs of classic Monopoly. Considering the trademarks from Marvel, we’re admittedly a bit surprised why it is going for as little as it is, but we’re not complaining!
Cons
However, one thing Monopoly collectors should note is the fluctuating price of this game. While Hasbro offers it at $19.99, it seems to be more expensive on other retailers, such as Amazon – where the price of the same box is nearly double! If you are considering getting Monopoly Black Panther, it may be worth doing some research to find the best prices.
As with most themed Monopoly games, players who are unfamiliar with the setting may be a little lost at first. This is compounded by the fact that there are elements of this Monopoly edition unique to the Black Panther universe, making it slightly more difficult to catch up on all of the gameplay mechanics than other themed Monopoly games that are played exactly the same as the classic version.
One small thing that some fans may find undesirable is that this edition of Monopoly still contains the same “Go to Jail” and “Get Out of Jail” icons as the classic Monopoly. While this is definitely an in-built mechanic of Monopoly that we probably can’t imagine the game without, some players may find that it slightly detracts from the lore of Wakanda, and having those pieces on the board may look out of place. However, if you don’t mind a reminder that Black Panther sometimes still has to follow the rules of Monopoly, this will probably not be an issue.
Overall Review
To sum up, we think that Monopoly Black Panther will be a steal for anyone that is a fan of both Monopoly and Marvel. At its very affordable retail price, it is an easy grab for a collector looking to add another themed Monopoly game. Just be careful to cross-check the prices before making your purchase.
Did we mention the pictures yet? When you open this box, you will be instantly reminded of the breathtaking scenes of Wakanda – a worthy piece of art for both collectors and casual players alike. The vibrant colors make this an attractive game both on the outside and within. Although the slightly differing gameplay may be confusing at first, it should be easy for any new player to pick up.
On the whole, for anyone who is a Marvel enthusiast, especially Black Panther, the Monopoly Black Panther set is highly recommended for a fresh look into the world of Monopoly aside from traditional properties and cards. You will also get to build up your very own settlements and ally with the locals for maximum progress!
